Our psychologist set their own rates and it's best to discuss their rates directly with them. All sessions are charged automatically at the start of the session via online credit card payment. As such you need your credit card or debit card details when filling up the intake forms sent to you electronically by your psychologist. No other method of payment is available.
Rebates
All our psychologists are registered with the Medicare. Therefore, they can provide you with a rebate which is lodged automatically on your behalf upon the full payment of the session. If you have registered your banking details with Medicare, you will automatically receive your rebate usually within 48 hours of your session. Currently, up to 20 sessions of psychological services are available for rebate in each calendar year. Rebates range from $89 to $197 depending on your circumstances and entitlement. You can check this with Medicare directly as we don't have any visibility into your entitlements. You should always inform your psychologist if you have not received your rebate. A follow up is often required with the Medicare directly by yourself to workout any potential issues.
To be eligible for the rebate, you will need to book a consultation appointment with your GP and obtain both a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan. If you are referred by your psychiatrist, a referral letter is needed. Please bring the referral and your Mental Health Care Plan to your first appointment. Make sure that your referral is obtained before your first session otherwise no rebate will be backdate provided.
Private Health Fund Rebates
Our psychologists are registered with all major health Funds. The rebate from each health Fund may vary. Some health funds require their clients to have exhausted their Medicare-funded sessions for the year before private health Fund rebate is applicable for psychology cover. Please check with your health Fund provider for details. Some private health insurances cover video call sessions.
NDIS & ADF
We are registered under NDIS to provide therapeutic support and behavioural assessments. Also, we can provide counselling under ADF’s counselling service – Garrison Health.
After preparing your Mental Health Care Plan, your GP will refer you to a psychologist for an initial round of treatment (up to 6 sessions). Once your initial course of treatment is complete your psychologist will assess your progress and make a recommendation as to whether therapy needs to continue. If you and your psychologist agree to continue therapy, your psychologist will write a letter to your GP and request a referral for further sessions.
Generally, the maximum number of consultations you may be able to claim through Medicare is 10 individual sessions per calendar year, but they must all be covered by a valid referral from your GP. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government is also offering an extension to the usual amount of session covered. Under the direction of your GP, you can currently claim an additional 10 session per year, making it a total of 20 session per calendar year. This 10 session extension is currently available until 30 June 2022.
Only if you want to claim a Medicare rebate. We are able to see you without a GP referral although it’s sometimes a good idea to keep your GP in the loop if you have a significant issue.
Referrals under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative are for individuals with a diagnosed mental disorder. If you are an individual with a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP or MHCP) and your relationship with a significant other is contributing to your distress, your therapist can assess whether it is appropriate for you to involve a partner or family member in your treatment, however, Medicare states that the focus of treatment should always remain on the individual.
If you have a MHTP and think relationship counselling would be relevant to your treatment, please call or email us for more information on Medicare rebates for relationship counselling.
